Good Lord I can't even begin to tell you how incredibly sublime Johnny Cash's American series is! Producer Rick Rubin managed to capture Cash in quiet potency during the final years of his life (the last Album in this series was released after Cash's death). Mostly full of american covers - but a few new Cash originals - Johnny manages to take some of the most popular songs of recent decades and make them his own. Amazing.
