March Clothing Drive For The Westside Freestore

This month we're going to switch gears a little and take Twoshirts to the streets by running a clothing drive to benefit the Westside Freestore in Columbus. If you've ever been to the Freestore you know they are always in need of a variety of clothing and goods to provide for the needs of people on the west side of Columbus who are hurting. However, they've communicated to me that at this time they are especially in need of baby clothes.

In response, those of us in the GCVineyard Group have made it our project this month to collect as many items of clothing as we can to help out this vital organization, but we're especially focusing on collecting baby clothes.

Copy it (color or black and white) and hand it out to everyone you can to let them know about our project!

Many of you know that I've worked with the Freestore for the past few years and that it was a significant inspiration for the creation of the Twoshirts community. Well, now is our chance to give back! Would you be willing to join with us?

(NOTE: IF YOU'RE NOT IN COLUMBUS - why not organize a clothing drive of your own to benefit an organization near you? All you need is a few friends. Create your own group, and then get started gathering clothes in your community. Use Twoshirts.org to spread the word, and tell me about your plans so I can publicize it here)

Here are the details:

1. We'll spend the whole month of March gathering clothes for the Westside Freestore, with a special emphasis on baby clothes.

2. I'm asking everyone to individually do their best to spread the word to their freinds and neighbors all month long. Make room in your own garage to store clothes in the short term.

3. We're organizing two neighborhood outreaches in Grove City on March 15th and March 22nd from 10AM to 12PM. We'll go door to door on the 15th asking for clothing for the Free store and offer to pick it up on the 22nd. Meet at the Grove City Vineyard at 10AM.

4. We'll have a folding and pack-up party, complete with food, on Friday, April 4th at the Grove City Vineyard at 6PM (please rsvp to me via e-mail so we can prepare enough food!).

5. The next morning some of us will meet at the church at 9:45AM to load up the clothes and take them to the Freestore on Sullivant Ave. While we're there, we'll help out for a few hours by serving food and sorting clothes, etc.

We're going to need lots of help with this, so please RSVP me via e-mail and let me know where and when you can attend to help out.
